Boronia Heights Bowl

An old school bowl made in the same style as many from the late 80’s in south east Queensland. The Boronia Heights Bowl however is taller in comparison to many standalone 3 sided concrete skate bowls. It tops out at 5ft. It has no coping, just the rounded concrete lip which is worn down from years of skateboarding. The sides taper off down towards the flat. The concrete deck is wider now. Flat concrete was used to extend it out.

Being of the era it is you won’t find that polished surface of today so expect a few lumps and bumps. It stands underneath large trees which leave sticks and leaf litter all over the bowl. This one definitely needs a sweep out before skating. If you’re old school or like character, this spot is for you. If you prefer the modern day park with it’s slippery concrete and smooth transitions then it’s best avoided.

There are no other elements here to skate, no street, not even a pathway to it.

The wider park has a playground, open space, a dog park as well as seats and shade. There is a water bubbler on the path down the hill.

Getting to Boronia Heights Bowl

The skate bowl sits in Highland Park on Eugene St, not far from Middle Rd. It isn’t visible from the road easily. Parking is on the street. Once you’ve reached the park, walk towards the picnic shelter and you should stumble across the bowl. There is a bus stop heading back north up Eugene St. This can take you to Grand Plaza and other local spots.
