Browns Plains Skatepark

This place just keeps getting bigger and bigger. Multiple upgrades, including one is recent times, sees Browns Plains Skatepark as being one of the best in Logan. Short of tacking a nice big vert ramp and a full bowl in here, there’s not much more you could ask for.

The new upgrades to the park were added onto the back of the 6ft halfpipe where the basketball court used to be. The deck now goes into a 4ft wave ramp with a 5ft quarter across the flat. A 7ft tabletop platform then drops into another 5ft quarter opposite an 8ft quarter. Both 5ft quarters have concrete lips and the 8ft has metal coping. The upgrades have been done with the smooth concrete you see in newer skateparks so this section is fast. There’s also new street elements including a 3 stair with hubbas and ledges angling out, manual pad ledge combo, bank with hip and street curb and a small quarter. Ledge seating you can skate has also been added. Amazing to think this is just the upgrade onto what was already a good skatepark.

In addition to the upgrades the original elements at Browns Plains Skate Park still there. These include:

  • 6ft halfpipe, one wall curved, with down spine to curved quarter. Metal coping.
  • 3ft 3 sided bowl which tapers down to flat. Concrete lip.
  • 6ft 3 sided bowl which tapers down on one side. Other wall curves to meet halfpipe. Concrete lip.
  • Down bank sits in between 3 sided bowls.
  • Combo box with launch pad grind boxes and a flat down rail. Drops about 2ft extra on lower side.
  • 4ft J box with a large deck and a lot of sides. Includes a small quarter, wide quarter, curved quarter, 3ft roll over, multiple banks at varying angles. Lots of hips on this one.
  • 3ft half pyramid
  • 8ft vert wall with banks either side.

To get a better overview check out the 20+ photos of the skate park we’ve added. They were all taken in September 2017.

Lights stay on till 10pm so night sessions are a big bonus. There’s seats, shade and water here, but if you want any other facilities you’ll need to head north into Waller Park.

Getting to Browns Plains Skatepark

The skatepark is tucked away down in a valley beneath the BMX track car park. The car park entry is directly opposite Yancey St. Waller Rd runs off Browns Plains Rd and is only a few minutes drive from both Beaudesert Rd and the Logan Motorway. For those using public transport there’s a bus stop just north of the car park entrance. This can get you to Grand Plaza and the bus interchange. Check with Translink for times.

Crowds

It is what you’d expect from a skatepark of this quality. There’s people here day and night 7 days a week. It’s better during school hours, but afternoons and weekends it can get very busy. Especially as there is both a primary and a high school just down the road.
