Marsden Bowl

Marsden Bowl is a near identical copy of skate bowls that showed up all around Logan and Brisbane during the 80’s. I had one of these as my local growing up. Whilst you can have a bit of fun with them, you wouldn’t go out of your way to visit.

It’s a traditional three sided 2ft bowl with a lip that’s been ground down after years of grinds. If you’re a beginner and want to get the feel for some tricks without anyone watching, this might be the go. Try disasters, frontside rocks, ollieing out and the like to get the feeling. Once you’ve got them dialled in, try them at a real skatepark.

One feature of this bowl that all skateboarders crave for their local is a light. Why this one? No idea. There’s some fun skate parks that would get a lot of use at night with lights, Underwood Park for example. But the 2ft bowl gets one; Novel. The park also has a basketball hoop, pathways, push train, seats and a playground. There’s some blue posts standing around the bowl like some kind of failed artwork. Having visited all of Logan’s skateparks I can tell you these were for a shade sail. There isn’t one here, but that’s what the structure is for. The nearest shops seem to be back on the main road at the Marsden Park Shopping Centre.

Getting to Marsden Bowl

You’ll find this small piece of transitioned concrete on the corner of Haven St and Pauline St in Marsden. Parking is on the street only. Just look for the big blue posts to find the bowl within the park. There are bus stops in both directions on Pauline St as well as Homestead St.
