Matthew Lambert Skatepark Shailer Park

More commonly known as Shailer Park Skatepark, this is a small street style park with a range of different obstacles. The park flows around a central grass square with quarters on 2 1/2 sides and a bank on another. These range from 2ft to 4ft. The flat ground has a 1ft grind box as well as a kinked ledge. There is a hipped quarter that peaks at 5ft. There are also 2 large banks; one a tight semi circle and the other more mellow with an angled top and curb coping. A raised platform sits on the fourth side with hubbas, rails, banks, straight ledge and a gap bank down to the flat. There are a number of metal seats around that park that you can shred or chill on.

The skatepark sits on the corner of a larger park with a wide range of facilities. It has a basketball court, free tennis courts, playground, shelters, seats, lights, bins, toilets, taps, fitness equipment, open space and walkways. It is maintained by the Logan city council and the surface is clean and debris free making for a smooth ride.

The skatepark was named in honour of Private Matthew Lambert. Matthew grew up in Shailer Park and spent a lot of time at local skateparks. In addition, he also spent time maintaining them. On August 22, 2011, Matthew was killed in action in Afghanistan.
