Mount Cotton Skatepark

Mount Cotton is Redlands newest skatepark. It was officially opened in August 2017 and came at a cost of $600,000. The Mount Cotton Skatepark was constructed by Convic so it’s fast and very smooth. It’s part of the Mount Cotton Community Park, located just off Valley Way.

Up top is a 20 degree bank with a central ledge extension. Just down there’s a choice of a flat rail, ledge or sushi tray manual pad. Following these we have a kinked rail, kinked ledge and a 2ft coffin shaped pyramid. In the transition section you’ll find a 4ft 3 sided bowl with an added quarter creating a hip. Up top on the big platforms you’ll find a a cool long curved skateable seat sitting around 1ft, and there’s a straight ledge seat as well at around 1 1/2 feet. Surrounding the action is a pathway with wide rollovers and a ledge. The park feels spread out and a has fair bit of flat space for something this size.

The skatepark sits is a larger community style park with lakes and walkways. There’s a water fountain, basketball courts, toilets, playground (with a flying fox), BBQ’s, shelters with seating and a soccer field. There’s shops just down the road from the entrance.

Getting to Mount Cotton Skatepark

If you’re driving, you’ll find the skate park not far off Mount Cotton Rd on Valley Way. The entrance is 600m east from the traffic lights and easy to miss. The address says Valley Way, but it’s more like Bohemia Ct. If you find yourself at a roundabout and shops, then you’ve gone too far. There is parking however it looks as though it’d fill up quickly. If you can’t find a spot, one option would be to park at the nearby IGA. If you’re using public transport there are bus stops just past the shopping centre. Check with Translink for routes and times.

If you’re checking out the street view, the skatepark joins onto the slab for the basketball hoop.

Crowds

It appears as though it’d be very busy on weekends and after school. It’d attract all ages, it’s fairly mellow, and sits in a nice environment. If you’re a local let us know what it’s like
