Tamborine Mountain SkatePark

The Tamborine Mountain Skatepark is tucked away behind the Vonda Youngman Community Centre in North Tamborine. It also borders North Tamborine Park from Geissmann St.

This is an old skatepark and the surface is slow and rough. It’s also covered in sticks and leaf litter from all the large trees surrounding the skate park. You’d think a broom might come in handy but it’ll take a while. A petrol blower would be a lot quicker.

The park starts off with a series of curved banks, rails and a fun box which has a few small quarters with coping and hips. The rails are unique to the region as they are concreted into the ground. One is a straight rail which sits more like coping mid bank, and the other in a Y shape. The park then descends into a uniquely shaped bowl with a few hips. It has metal coping and is around 5ft in the deep. There is a ledge and grind box on the deck.

The biggest issue here is speed. Between the rough surface and the debris, gathering speed is more difficult than it needs to be. If this park was resurfaced, it’d change things up a lot.

There are a few seats at the skatepark but not much else. Sports fields, playgrounds, toilets and picnic facilities are just down the hill, and there’s a range of shops not far down the road.

Getting to Tamborine Mountain Skatepark

If you’re not from the mountain, be sure you’ve got good brakes in your car before heading here. The roads to the top of Tambourine are steep, narrow and and windy. The skatepark itself is in North Tambourine, away from the more popular strip in Eagle Heights. You can’t see it from the road, but if you can locate the community centre, finding the park is simple from there. The community centre is just past Main St, where it turns into Knoll Rd. It’s also next door to the police station. If you park in the centre car park, walk down the right side road. The skatepark is on the right at the base. There is no public transport out here to get you onto and off the mountain.

Alternative Skateparks to Mount Tamborine

If you head east down Tamburine Mountain you’ll arrive at the Gold Coast with its wide range of parks. Closest Skate Parks on the east side base would be Oxenford, Pacific Pines and Upper Coomera. On the west side there’s a small street park at Tamborine Village.
