The Gap Bowl is near the soccer fields off Glen Affic St which you can get to from Waterworks Rd. Its across the road from The Gap Village Shopping Centre. Very nice fast bowls that are about 6 six foot high, this is a relatively new park build mid 2000s.
The design of this bowl is different any others seen in Brisbane. Its two long rectangular bowls with a double roll in connecting the two. One of the bowls is a more classic kidney shape. The other bowl is long and rectangular, like a pill. There’s a small flat between the two bowls it would only be about two foot across. Would have been interesting to have a spine, but otherwise the roll in gets you from one bowl to the other.
The surface is great though but the locals will tell you to watch out for the crap in the bowl you could suddenly be eating the concrete. There are some small sharp banks and ledges on the perimeter of this park which can be fun for a bit of a muck around. Lighting is nearby but its directed towards the football field. It might not be very well lit at all during night. Given the speed of the bowl think helmets would be a good idea if having a night session there.
