Wavell Bowl

Wavell Bowl as its known by the locals is in a park at the corner of Edinburgh Castle Rd and Fourteenth Avenue. This is quite a popular little bowl with a good contingent of skaters often turning up in the afternoons. Earlier in the day it can either be quiet or the park of choice for many scooter kids. The bowl itself is a lot of fun. It started as a shallow horseshoe shaped bowl with transition and metal coping. Since the upgrades in about 2013 its become a lot more fun. Now included are an extended transition on the end of the bowl, and a 4 foot open bowl / quarter at the other. Watch out for the coping on the new quarter though. Its made of concrete and a couple of seams between will lock up your board on a grind.

Wavell Skatepark Bowl is right next to dog park so you can jump the fence and have a drink of water from the tap. There is night lighting intended for the dog park that stays on till at least 8pm or so. Because the lighting is not direct overhead it does cast a shadow on one side of the bowl. In general would say it’s not very well lit but still very rideable at night. There are no toilets close by.
